Sadie's

Corner

WELCOME!!
I have to tell ya. I enjoy Disney movies for the most part. I've
seen practically all of them. And I LOVE visiting Disneyland. The
reason I decided to put together this page is because of my love
for Disneyland and what Walt Disney designed it to be. So, let's
begin our wonderful journey through my Disney corner.

I first put together this page back in 2003. Since then, I've
returned to the park twice and wanted to do an update page.
So, follow the link here and see all of the changes made to the
park as well as celebrate Disneyland's 50th Anninversary.

Walt Disney
The man who started it all...
December 5,1901-December 15,1966

Try to imagine a world without Walt Disney. A world without his magic,
whimsy, and optimism. Walt Disney transformed the entertainment
industry, into what we know today. He pioneered the fields of
animation, and found new ways to teach, and educate.

Walt Disney was born on December 5, 1901 in Chicago Illinois, to
his father Elias Disney, and mother Flora Call Disney. Walt was one
of five children, four boys and a girl.

Disneyland

"The Happiest Place On Earth"
Launched in 1955.

(Photo taken by me, Sadie. Not to be reproduced for any reason. Thank you!)

"To all who come to this happy place: welcome. Disneyland
is your land. Here age relives fond memories of the past...and
here youth may savor the challenge and promise of the future.
Disneyland is dedicated to the ideals, the dreams and the hard
facts which have created America...with the hope that it will
be a source of joy and inspiration to all the world."

~Walt Disney~
Dedication of Disneyland on July 17, 1955
Disneyland Town Square, Main Street, U.S.A.

Disneyland is one of my most favorite places to be. I feel like
I am swept into another place and time. The "real" world
doesn't exist for me once I step through the gates. It's so
awesome! Main Street is where you start and I just enjoy walking
down the street and looking at the neat buildings. The feeling
of another world takes of hold me immediately with each step I take.
This quote by Walt Disney himself says it all.

"I don't want the public to see the world they live in while they're
in the Park (Disneyland). I want to feel they're in another world."

I will be sharing as much information about Disneyland as I can
find. I hope it will encouarge you to visit there someday or
return again. The experience is all worth it.

Sadie's Personal Guide to Disneyland.
Here, I will share with you my visits to Disneyland. When
you click on the name of the land, it will take you to
site that has pictures taken in that land. This site
and the pictures are not mine nor do I know the person
who put together this site. I just though the photos
would help you enjoy my personal experience. Thank you
to the Disneyguy.

Disneyland Mainsteet, U.S.A. - This is one of my most favorite places
to be at Disneyland. I just love the atmosphere and the look of it.
I always visit the China Closet. If you buy a mug there, you will
get a free cup of coffee. I also visit the Blue Ribbon Bakery. YUM!
Be sure to get the fruit topped pastry. Delicious! On the last two
trips to Disneyland, I had to stop by the Silhouette Studio. This is
neat place to have your "picture" done. Well, a lady will cut out
your silhouette in black and put it on a white background. This is
a wonderful keepsake of your trip to Disneyland. The Main Street
Cinema, where you can view "Steamboat Willie" and other old Mickey
cartoons is a treat. So is "Great Moments With Mr. Lincoln." And
when you need that break in your day, take a ride on the Disneyland
Railroad. It takes you all around the park with various stops if you
choose to get off.

Adventureland - Adventureland is the home of the "Indian Jones"
ride. This is a favorite ride of my husband and my son. They
always make sure they have a fastpass to this ride atleast once.
Also, there's the "Jungle Cruise". We never miss this one. The
jokes are corny enough to make you smile and even laugh. The
"Aladdin Oasis" is where they retell the story of Aladdin and
it is entertaining. You can also meet Aladdin and Jasmine here.
Lastly, there's "Tarzan's Treehouse." This used to be the "Swiss
Family Robinson Treehouse" but now Tarzan resides there. It's
a nice trek if you haven't walked much already. :o)

Frontierland - Frontierland has the "Big Thunder Mountain Railroad."
Though I have not rode this rollercoaster, my husband and son have.
They like it though they didn't ride it this last visit to Disneyland.
There's the "Mark Twain Riverboat" that we usually ride but this
last time we decided to ride the "Sailing Ship Columbia." It's the
pirate ship. In the past, it was never in operation so we couldn't ride
it. But we had the chance this time and took it. This ride takes you around
"Tom Sawyer Island" on the Rivers of America and you see all kinds
of things like Indians and animals. They're not real but they are nice
to see. "Tom Sawyer Island" is a favorite with the kids. There's
caves to explore and a treehouse to climb in to. And wobbly bridges
that attempt to get your shoes wet. Lastly, you get to ride a raft
over the Rivers of America to get there. Oh! And I shouldn't
forget that they do "Fantasmic" from Tom Sawyer Island.
Also, if you get hungry, the "Stage Door Cafe" has the best
burgers and hot dogs.

New Orleans Square - New Orleans Square is home of the "Haunted
Mansion." This is a fun ride but can be scary to wee ones. My
5 year old loved it but my 7 year old didn't. So, just proceed with
caution. I can tell you that I never miss it when I'm Disneyland.
Oh, and be sure to look for the Mickey ears on the dining room
table. Have fun with the ghosts! Hee! Hee! Hee! New Orleans
Square also has the famous "Pirates of the Caribbean" ride. This
is a family favorite! We make sure this ride is on our schedule.
My husband says this is his favorite Disneyland ride and
recommends you go. There are many neat shopping places in New
Orleans Square. My favorite is the "Christmas Shop", which
unfortunately was not open this last visit to Disneyland. Bummer!
There's also portrait artists to draw your portrait (I still need
to do that!) and a beautiful crystal shop.

Critter Country - Critter Country has changed a little since we
last were there. Where the "Country Bear Playhouse" used to
be is now "The Winnie the Pooh" ride. No more bears to watch
and hear singing. Even thought I missed the bears, I did
however enjoy the new "Winnie the Pooh" ride as did my kids.
It's bright and cheery. We rode it twice! "Splash Mountain"
can also be found in Critter Country. You can cool down on
a hot summer day with this ride. And as you plummet down
at the end of the ride, you get a picture taken of you and
the goofy expression you make. You defnitely need to do this
atleast once. Ha! Ha! In Critter Country, you can hop on the
"Davy Crockett Canoes" and paddle yourself (with the help of
others) around the Rivers of America. Some say this is not
hard and others say it is. I have never done this ride so I
can't say from experience. But let me encourage you to try it.
And when you get hungry, stop by the "Hungry Bear Restaurant"
to eat. They have great salads and a comfortable atmosphere.

Fantasyland - Fantasyland is one of my favorites lands. Walt
Disney said this about Fantasyland.."Fantasyland is dedicated to
the young and the young at heart; to those who believe that when
you wish upon a star, your dreams do come true." Yep! That sums
it up. This land caters to all the fairytales. We do every single
ride in Fantasyland. The "Alice In Wonderland" caterpillar
ride is my favorite I think. OH! But I love "Peter Pan's Flight"
as well. And I can't forget "Snow White's Scary Adventure"
or "It's A Small World." Okay! So, I really like them all. I will
caution you that "Mr. Toad's Wild Ride" might be too scary
for little ones. Even for me, it's a bit much. My daughter
really enjoyed "Dumbo's Flying Elephants" and "King Arthur's"
carousel. "Autopia" is a favorite of our family. Everyone loves
to drive the cute cars around the track. This last visit we didn't
get to ride the "Storybook Land Canal Boats" but we have on
past visits and recommend them. Lastly, in Fantasyland, if you're
big kid be sure to ride the Matterhorn. It is a little bumpy (I've
been told) but worth riding. And if you have a princess in your
family, like we do, make sure you stop by the princess shop.

Tomorrowland - Tomorrowland looks to the future. Here we have
"Star Wars Tour" which my son loves to do. "Rocket Rods" were
a popular attraction but are closed down now. It's in Tomorrowland
that you line up for "Autopia" but the track goes through Fantasyland
and Tomorrowland. You also catch the "Disney Monorail" here. The
Monorail takes you around the park with only one stop at the
Disney Hotel. A nice way to take a break from all the walking.
Another favorite of Tomorrowland is "Space Mountain." Though I
have never braved the ride, my husband and son love it. It's very
fast paced and mostly in the dark. The "Tomorrowland Terrace"
is usually where we've done our "Magic Mornings." But this last
visit we didn't do "Magic Morning." "Magic Morning", if they still
offer it, is where you eat breakfast with the characters. A great
time to get autographs and pictures. "Tomorrowland Terrace" also
has good food. They serve funnel cakes, one of my favs!

Toontown - Toontown is a lot of goofiness in a good way! It's
designed to be like a cartoon. They have some neat things for
the kids to mess with. And some fun things to do. We didn't
do "Roger Rabbit's Car Toon Spin" ride this last visit but have
rode it in the past. I like it. There's also "Donald Duck's Boat"
for the kids to climb around. "Goofy's Bounce House" is a fun
place to jump around. It's probably the only place where kids can
jump on the furniture. Ha! Ha! The "Jolly Trolley" drives up and down
the middle of Toontown. It's a fun ride. A favorite with my
son is "Gadget's Go Coaster." A small yet fun roller coaster located
to the back of Toontown. Also in Toontown is Mickey's and Minnie's
houses. You get to see their houses and usually meet them. I
know for sure you meet Mickey after you go through his house.
In Toontown, I so loved eating at "Pluto's Dog House." They had
the best foot long hotdogs. And you can also get pizza there in
Toontown. I believe this was one of the cheaper places to eat
at Disneyland. Warning: the water fountains are tricky. Hee! Hee!

Well, that's my personal tour of Disneyland. I hope you enjoyed
it. Maybe you'll go and visit Disneyland soon and create your
own memories with your family.

With all the links I have on this page, it is important
that I say not everything on the link pages do I necessarily
agree with. Most of them show a lot of ads and offers.
But the Disney and/or Disneyland things are worth reading.
